The virtual Heart of a Champion Gala is May 20, 2021, and we would like to invite you to join us. Watch at 7:00 PM on this Caring for Kids Network YouTube Link.

This year our theme is “Continuing the Mission and Vision.” We will celebrate the impact partners are making in our community by featuring our Heart of a Champion award-winning school, faith, business and civic/nonprofit leaders.

Ms. Monique Shurray will host the Caring for Kids Heart of a Champion Gala. She is a Media Coach and Video Marketing Strategist with over 15 years of experience as a media personality and producer for television and radio. As a former Entertainment Journalist, she loves interviewing entrepreneurs, celebrities, and emceeing events. She has interviewed notable celebrities, politicians and community leaders on a local and national level for both radio and on the red carpet for award shows such as the Stellar Awards.

We are excited to announce that the Kansas City Boys Choir and Kansas City Girls Choir will provide entertainment at our May 20 Gala. KCBC/KCGC provides a forum for developing and enhancing the mind to bridge communication gaps through music in the classical boys’/girls’ choir tradition. These young men and women represent both Missouri and Kansas metropolitan areas, and they spend a large amount of their time representing the Greater Kansas City area nationally. Both choirs were built on the inspiration and vision of Founder, CEO, and Artistic Director, Mr. Ah’Lee Robinson, a national recording gospel artist.

In addition, students from Kansas Academy of Theatrical Arts will read a poem written by Anthony Butler, The VIP Movement. A Caring for Kids KCKPS partner, KATA's mission is to promote positive citizenship through involvement in the arts. Their vision is:

  • To generate in young people a sense of positive self image.
  • To create an appreciation of multi-cultural arts.
  • To help the current generation become a creative asset to their community.
  • To launch youth into the world of work.
  • To build moral character.
In KATA's 30-year history, thousands of children have been impacted.
